A
dream comes true – after two years of preparation and planning, we
finally made it!
At
October 2nd we
spend our first day in the Reconcilação, where Val´s group, the
theatergroup “Arte Manha”, has us welcome very kindly. Everybody wants
to know, who we are and where we are from. So we start with a game, where
we all get to know each other better and we talk about things we like.
The
whole week until October 8th we enjoy being in the project. We
play, learn, dance, sing and eat together with the kids and teenagers,
whose candor, friendliness and joie de vivre is just amazing to us. Even
after a short period of time, we make friends and all of us know, that
saying goodbye again will be very hard.Just as friendly as the Reconcilição,
the Kindergarten has us welcome, where we spend a morning in a small group.
Even here we can feel the happyness about our visit. We share the joy,
fool around and play with the kids.
With
the group “Arte Manha” we make another very exciting experience, as we
visit downtown São Paulo. In the middle of giantic skyscrapers and a huge
crowd of people, we amble through the centre of the metropolis and receive
many different impressions. On the one hand there is this amazing and
overwhelming pedestrian area, just like in many big european cities, but
on the other hand it is such a huge contrast to Vila São José, where all
the kids and teenagers of the project live. How quickly time passes by –
it is already Friday, our last day in São Paulo, before we move on
further into the north of Brazil. The project and especially the group
“Arte Manha” prepared a huge goodbye-party. We dance alot, sing, eat
and drink. By now, all of us know, that our time in Vila São José is up.
At the end thank all the kind people in the project and hand over a check
to Ana, symbolizing the money, we collected in our school at several
activities before.
Everybody
is hugging each other, many tears of goodbye are rolling down faces, but a
short period of time later, we all are celebrating again and enjoy our
last night in Vila São José together. Now,
that we are already back home in Germany for two weeks, we still think
alot about this time. All the pictures are still in our heads and songs we
sang together come back into our minds. Certenly,
these imressions will remain for a long time. On and on we tell our
friends and families about the meetings we had with all the different
people and the circumstances of their lifes, which we are able to
understand better now. Even though we were dealing with the social
circumstances of Brazi before, just by now they got faces and we are able
to understand them. We could experience, how important our support from
Germany really is.
So
this journey cerently is a huge motivation for more activities in order to
help in the future. The next ones are planned and are just about to take
place.
This
weekend we are participating a market of arts and crafts at our school:
We
took several fotos and created cards, we are going to sell. We hope, that
we will earn some money, to give to the Reconciliação. At the last day
of school, we will do a “Sponsored Walk”, all of the pupils and
teachers of the NIG will participate.
It
would be great, if all the stories of our experiences will also animate
other people to help. It is very important for us, to keep in contact with
the people from the project. We really wish to see everybody again and
hope, that a group of the Reconciliação will visit us in Germany soon.
Of course, we also like to
come back some day.
To
everybody of the project – children, teenagers, employees – thank you
so much for having us!!!
